Design SI is a creative studio, originally founded in Chico by Rouben Mohiuddin in 2014. Joined by designers Alyson Meucci and Marissa Milan, both graduates of CSU Chico. DSI now offers design services and it brings fresh, creative ideas and offers attentive professional services which include custom home design, interior design, furniture design, concept development and space planning. A product of Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-ARC), where he earned his Master’s Degree in Architecture, Mohiuddin is an associate member of a AIA (American Institute of Architecture), a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and certified by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Mohiuddin has developed his integrated project approach through more than 20 years of professional experience, working with prestigious architectural firms in Los Angeles and New York. He now passes these concepts onto his design students at California State University, Chico, where he is a tenured Associate Professor of Interior Architecture; his passion and appreciation for architecture and design are physically reflected through the projects he has produced in his years of practice. If there is a common thread to be found among all of Design SI’s projects, it is subtle, holistic and somewhat reminiscent of Arts and Crafts traditions from the turn of the 20th Century. It centers on the use and appreciation of materials native to a region, sensitive to cultural forms and customs, and refined with a modern design approach which is contextually relevant.
